COVID-19 Relief Fund Accepting Applications for Fall Assistance

October 8, 2020

The DFW Musician COVID-19 Relief Fund is taking applications for support for fall 2020.

The purpose of the DFW Musicians COVID-19 Relief Fund is to aid in the financial relief of Local 72-147 Musicians who show a demonstrated loss of employment and/or independent contractor income due to the loss and/or cancellation of engagements during the universal shutdown of public gatherings caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

At this time applications are being accepted for relief of lost work since July 1, 2020. Applicants who received relief from the fund in the previous round of distributions (prior to July 1) may re-apply.

During the early months of the COVID-19 Pandemic the DFW Musicians COVID-19 Relief Fund was established by the Executive Board of Local 72-147 through the careful allocation of Local 72-147 resources and through a fundraising campaign organized by the local. Since its establishment, more than $40,000 in distributions have been made to freelance members who were able to document a 75% loss of professional freelance musical work through mid-June.

As the Pandemic continues, the Fund’s eligibility guidelines have been adapted to address its prolonged effects on musicians’ employment as some sectors of the performing arts industry cautiously move forward, while others remain completely shuddered. Revised eligibility guidelines may be accessed by clicking HERE.
