Having recently completed four terms as AFM International President, Ray Hair has stepped down after 41 years of distinguished service to musicians everywhere. As President of Local 72-147 for 28 years and subsequently serving as International President of the American Federation of Musicians for 13 years, Hair has spent his life at the front lines of the labor movement, advocating for the lives and workplaces of professional musicians.
The Local 72-147 Membership will be coming together on September 3 as a part of its celebration of Labor Day, honoring its own longtime labor leader. Also at Klyde Warren Park will be Free Public Musical Performances by Local 72-147 Bands performing as part of the Musicians in the Park – Labor Day Extravaganza, sponsored by Klyde Warren Park and Music Performance Trust Fund.
“It is especially meaningful for us to come together on Labor Day Weekend in conjunction with other musical events sponsored by MPTF, to honor Ray and his legacy of service and leadership,” said Local 72-147 President Stewart Williams.
Great Food, Great Music on this most important holiday weekend, as we honor our own.
