Preparing for Negotiations with Waco Symphony

Preparations for negotiations are underway with Waco Symphony, as a one year extension of the orchestra’s previous collective bargaining agreement will expire at the end of the 2022-23 season. Beginning last year, the WSO has been experiencing change with the appointment of a new executive director last season, and will be seeing the retirement of its longtime Music Director Stephen Hyde as it engages in a search for a new Music Director.

Musicians serving on the negotiation team consist of Players’ Committee Members Kristin Mortenson,  Kim Hagelstein, Nicole Paglialonga, Dwight Anderson and Kyp Green. Working with Local 72-147 President Stewart Williams, the team is planning organizing initiatives for the orchestra members and developing proposals for the upcoming negotiation. “It is a time for change with the Waco Symphony, and everyone is excited about building a new and promising future,” says Local 72-147 President Stewart Williams.
