Robert (Bob) Charles Eidenier

Robert Charles (Bob) Eidenier, age 77, of Lewisville, Texas, passed away on August 16, 2020 in Lewisville.

Bob was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Gertrude and Harry Eidenier on July 29, 1943.  After spending most of his youth in Cleveland, Bob moved with his family to Michigan in 1960 where he met and married Ruth Kosten on June 13, 1964 in Grand Rapids.  Shortly after their marriage, Bob and Ruth moved to Denton, Texas so he could attend college, and they also welcomed the birth of their son, Bobby.  Bob graduated from North Texas State University (now University of North Texas) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music in 1969 and in 1972 with a Master’s Degree in Music Education.  Bob taught in Plano and Richardson public schools and at Northeast Louisiana University (now University of Louisiana Monroe). He later returned to the North Texas area to further his career as a musician.

Bob loved music from an early age and throughout his life.  An accomplished trumpet player, he performed with many different musical organizations including area bands and symphonies.  Later in his career, he worked with the local recording studios preparing music for performance and playing with some of the recording groups.  Although he appreciated many different types of music, he especially liked jazz and always enjoyed both listening to it as well as playing in jazz bands.  His musician friends were a special part of is life and among his favorite people. He always enjoyed their company.  Some of his fondest memories were of times he spent with other musicians playing in various musical groups.  He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing stories and jokes with everyone as he loved making people laugh.  Bob also enjoyed sports – especially baseball, old cowboy TV shows and traveling with his family to visit both new and familiar places.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and uncles John and Charles. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, Ruth Eidenier; son Robert, Jr. (Bobby); brother Harry Eidenier, Jr; brother-in-law Jack Kosten and wife Pam; sister-in-law Jean Kosten; four nieces, eight nephews and their families.  Bob will also be missed and remembered fondly by his many friends.

In accordance with Bob’s wishes, no service will be held at this time.  Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society, Operation Kindness or the DFW Musicians Covid-19 Relief fund.
