Walter Pearson

Walter Travis Pearson Jr., died peacefully at his home with family on Monday February 19, 2024.

He was born in Dallas, Texas on September 2, 1939, to Walter Travis Pearson Sr., and Georgia Ruth Pearson. Walter was a 1960 graduate of SMU. Post-college he served in the 531st Air Force Division Texas National Guard Band. He had a long career in the mortgage and brokerage business, and was an accomplished musician and jazz saxophonist. He and his wife Heather formed Straight Ahead Jazz Quintet in 1986.

Walter is survived by Heather, his wife of almost 34 years, sons Travis, Greg (Laura), and Lee, grandchildren Garrett (Nicole), Mallory (Sean), Hannah, Chase, Emma, Samantha, Alex, and Andrew, and great grandson Grey, many Paterson in-laws, and many other loved ones. Walter was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jim Pearson.

Walter’s family extends a special thanks to his longtime care providers, especially Drs Melissa Carry, Dean Dimmitt, Steve Perkins, and Erika Trapp. Thanks also to his caregivers from Alliance Home Health and Pathway Hospice.

A celebration of his life for family and friends is scheduled on Sunday, March 10, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 at Stoney’s Wine Lounge located at 6038 Oram St, Dallas, TX 75206. This will be an open house, with music, refreshments, and an opportunity to share memories and comments starting at 3:00. In lieu of flowers, please donate in his memory to your charity of choice.
