Celebrating Black History Month with MPTF Sponsored Performances
Local 72-147 and Music Performance Trust Fund joins the entire nation in celebration of Black History Month in paying tribute to the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American society.
In recognition of the importance of Black history in the drama of the American story this month, Music Performance Trust Fund, in coordination with AFM locals across the United States, has provided full musician funding for free-to-the-public performances involving our local’s professional musicians.
Collaborating with Klyde Warren Park in Downtown Dallas, two performances have been sponsored.
- On Saturday, February 18 a special performance by Linny Nance Music was performed at the park’s main stage from Noon to 3:00pm.
- Also at Klyde Warren Park on Sunday February 26 a special performance featuring the Myles Tate Alliance will be presented at the park’s main stage at 2:00 pm.
In Collaboration with Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church at 1819 N. Washington Avenue in Dallas a performance has been sponsored on Sunday, February 26:
This is a special performance of the “Gospel Meets Jazz” Celebration project featuring the Gospel Meets Jazz band led by Brad Leali, and the renowned Prilgrim Rest Gospel Choir. The performance is on February 26 at 3:00pm and free and open to the public.
