Jean McGarrity

Jean McGarrity, 95, passed away in Manvel, Texas, on May 22, 2022. Jean was a
Life Member of Local72-147 since 1953, but had been inactive for many years. She was
married to Ken McGarrity who was a prominent band leader in the late 1940’s and early
1950’s. Upon his death his 1953, Jean joined the local and continued to contract for the
band for several years. Even after leaving the active music world, she maintained her
membership because she felt strong ties to the union. Ken and Jean were members from
1926 until 2022, 96 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia McGarrity of Oklahoma City, and son, Terry
McGarrity of Manvel, Texas, seven grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
Terry is also a Life Member of Local 72-147.
