Jeff Taylor

Jeffrey Wayne Taylor, 58 of Murphy, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018. The family will be accepting guests at Sparkman Funeral Home Chapel (Richardson, TX) on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church (Wylie, TX) on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Clark Cemetery in Hermitage, MO on a later date. Jeffrey was born on May 1, 1960 in Kansas City, MO to Waymon Radean Taylor and Rosalie Moore Taylor. He attended St. Anthony Catholic Church in Wylie, TX.

Jeff was a wonderful father, husband, brother, son and friend. He attended Kansas University in Lawrence, KS and University of North Texas in Denton, where he was chosen to play lead trumpet for Maynard Ferguson. He also played lead trumpet for the Bill Tillman Band and was leader of Tin Man Band and Jeff Taylor Jazz Orchestra in Dallas. He was a professional trumpet player and band leader for 40 years and was an active member of the Grammy Chapter in TX. He had the honor to play with and for many notable people, such as President Bill Clinton and President George W. Bush.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife Susan Marie Taylor, son James E. Taylor, daughter Jennifer L. Reichert, his mother Rosalie Taylor of Murphy, TX, his brothers, Michael Taylor of Youngsville, LA, John Taylor of New Providence IA, and his sister Susan Slack of Humansville, MO.

He is preceded in death by his father Waymon R. Taylor and niece Holly Kellerman.
