Kathleen Lamb

Kathleen was born the second child of Helen M. and Louis C. Larsen of Oak Park, Illinois. Kathleen grew up in LaGrange, Illinois and graduated from Lyons Township High School. She met her future husband, Amherst Robert (“Bob”) Lamb, Sr., at the graduation ceremony. Following Bob’s graduation from West Point and commissioning in the United States Air Force in 1957, Kathleen and Bob were married. At that time, Kathleen was working in Chicago as a legal secretary for a national law firm.

Kathleen and Bob would have been married 65 years in June of this year. Kathleen is survived by Bob and their daughter Terri and her husband Ben, daughter Toby, son Robert, five grandchildren, Adrienne, Nicholette, Soryn, Isabella, and August, sister-in-laws, Cheryl Lamb, Ann Davis and her husband Eric, and Nancy Howell and her husband Jesse, and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kathleen and Bob’s son Jim predeceased her. As a military family, Kathleen, Bob, and their children lived in many locales, including Ohio, Canada, Texas, Oklahoma, and California.

Kathleen’s life was centered around music. She was a masterful musician playing an incomparable violin in all genres of music and with various symphonies. She continued playing until an automobile accident degraded her playing ability. Always determined, Kathleen graduated from the University of Redlands, California with a business degree. She began a career in Financial Planning and received her Series 7 license. Kathleen worked for the investments division of USAA in San Antonio, Texas until she retired in 2001. Kathleen had a soft spot for animals, especially the dogs and cats that she rescued, adopted, and cared for.
