COVID-19 Fund Provides Nearly $140,000 of Musician Relief

December 9, 2021

Thanks to All Who Donated to the DFW Musicians COVID-19 Relief Fund.

To date, nearly $140,000 was disbursed to Local 72-147 members who had applied for assistance and suffered the most significant losses of income due to the shutdowns of the Pandemic. This was made possible by individual’s donations and Local 72-147’s investment in the DFW Musicians COVID-19 Relief Fund. The Fund was also supported by special fundraiser concert last May performed by musicians of the Dallas Symphony joined by many musicians of the MET Opera Orchestra, who had spent most of the Pandemic without employment. Much thanks go to Dallas Symphony Association President Kim Noltemy and Music Director Fabio Luisi for their work in making this event a reality.

This show of support and generosity, combined with the Local’s investment in the fund, has enabled us to help each other and come together as a union in our industry’s darkest hour.

While we cannot replace what has been lost, this fund has enabled us to help members with some bills, cover a portion of rent, or buy groceries, as we have stood together to survive this difficult time. We have heard back from many of those who have received aid from the Fund, and about how relieved and grateful they have been to have had some help.

A special thanks go to all the contributors to the Fund.  The many gifts to the fund have truly made a difference. Donors, you have shown leadership, compassion, generosity, and selflessness through your help.

On behalf of those who have been able to sustain themselves a bit longer because of your assistance, thank you.

A SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR CONTRIBUTORS
